Beacon — Local SEO Setup for Trade Businesses
Beacon local SEO setup

Inside Cortex · Elite

Found in the suburbs you work in. Set up once. Works permanently.

Beacon builds the local SEO foundation that tells Google exactly where you work and what you do. Suburb pages and a fully optimised Google Business Profile, set up during onboarding and working for your business from that day forward.

The problem

Google does not know where you work. So it does not show you.

Most tradie websites have one page that says something like "servicing Townsville and surrounding areas." That tells Google almost nothing. When someone in Kirwan searches "electrician Kirwan" on their phone, Google looks for a business with clear, specific signals that it services that suburb. A vague service area line does not provide that signal.

The result is that tradies who do excellent work across half a dozen suburbs are invisible in most of them on Google. The calls they miss are not going to a better tradie. They are going to the one whose website and Google Business Profile are set up correctly for that suburb.

Most tradies also have a Google Business Profile that is either missing, half finished, or set up with the wrong categories. A poorly set up profile actively hurts your ranking. Google needs specific, accurate signals to decide who to show in the map pack. If those signals are absent or inconsistent, you do not appear.

Beacon fixes both problems. Once. During your 14 day setup.

What Beacon does

Two things set up correctly. Local search works the way it should.

Beacon is built during your onboarding and runs in the background from that point on. Here is what gets done.

1

Suburb pages built into your website

Your Elite website includes 12 pages. We allocate a portion to suburb specific landing pages, chosen based on real local search volume data. Each page is written for a specific suburb and optimised for the searches people in that suburb are actually typing. When someone searches "electrician Kirwan," "plumber Thuringowa," or "sparky Cranbrook," your suburb page gives Google the specific signal it needs to show your business. Without those pages, you are invisible in the suburbs where the work is.

2

Google Business Profile set up properly

During onboarding we set up or fully optimise your Google Business Profile. The right primary category for your trade. A keyword optimised business description. Service areas matched to the suburbs you cover. Your specific services listed. Photo guidance so your profile looks active and professional. Done once. Correctly. Your GBP then works as a permanent local ranking signal that keeps building over time as reviews come in through Halo.

Same tradie. Two very different search results.

Without Beacon. And with it.

Without Beacon

  • Services six suburbs around Townsville.
  • Website says "servicing Townsville and surrounds."
  • Google Business Profile half finished. Wrong category.
  • Customer in Kirwan searches "electrician Kirwan." Business does not appear.
  • Competitor with suburb pages gets the call. That job worth $950. Gone.

With Beacon

  • Services six suburbs around Townsville.
  • Dedicated suburb page for each area. Keyword optimised.
  • Google Business Profile fully set up. Right category. Right service areas.
  • Customer in Kirwan searches "electrician Kirwan." Business appears in top three.
  • Customer calls. Job booked. $950 in the calendar.

The maths

What is local invisibility costing you?

73% of tradie searches happen on a phone. If your business is not appearing in those searches, every missed call is a job going to a competitor. Enter your numbers.

Industry average: 4 per week

Avg job: $768 (ServiceSeeking 2026)

Industry average: 30% (MethodisAI 2026)

Being invisible on Google is costing you

$47,923

per year in work going to better ranked competitors.

That is $3,994 per month in jobs that called someone else because they could not find you.

Working: missed calls per week × 52 weeks × average job value × win rate. Conservative estimate. Sources: ServiceSeeking 2026, TradieScaler 2026, MethodisAI 2026.

Part of the system

Beacon brings them in. The rest of Cortex converts them.

Beacon is what gets the phone ringing in the first place. When someone in Kirwan, Thuringowa, or Mundingburra searches for your trade on Google, Beacon is what puts your business in front of them. Once they find you and make contact, The Door captures their enquiry, Tilly answers their call, and The Diary books them in.

Beacon also works directly with Halo. The Google Business Profile Beacon sets up during onboarding is the same profile where Halo's review requests send customers to leave reviews. Every review that comes in through Halo adds to the GBP that Beacon built. Better ranking brings more calls. More calls become more jobs. More jobs generate more reviews. Beacon starts that loop.

Common questions

Questions about Beacon

What is a suburb page and why does my trade business need one?
A suburb page is a dedicated page on your website targeting a specific area you service. For example, an electrician based in Townsville might have separate pages for Kirwan, Aitkenvale, and Mundingburra. Each page tells Google that your business services that specific suburb, what work you do there, and why locals should call you. Without these pages, Google has no way of knowing which suburbs you cover. With them, you can appear in search results when someone types "electrician Kirwan" or "plumber Aitkenvale" on their phone.
Who chooses which suburbs get pages?
We choose the suburbs based on real local search volume data. The goal is to target the areas where people are actually searching for your trade, not just the suburbs you happen to like. On the Elite tier you get 12 website pages in total. We allocate a portion of those to suburb pages, chosen strategically to give you the best chance of ranking where the work is. They are chosen based on evidence, not guesswork.
What does the Google Business Profile setup include?
During onboarding we set up or fully optimise your Google Business Profile. That includes selecting the right primary and secondary categories for your trade, writing a keyword optimised business description, setting up your service areas to match the suburbs you cover, listing your specific services, and providing guidance on photos. A properly set up Google Business Profile is one of the strongest local ranking signals Google uses. Most tradies either do not have one or have one that is half finished. Beacon fixes that once, properly, during setup.
How long before Beacon starts working?
The suburb pages and Google Business Profile are set up within the 14 day onboarding period. Google typically begins indexing new pages within a few weeks. Local rankings improve progressively over the following months as Google builds confidence in the signals. Most tradies see meaningful movement within 60 to 90 days. The suburb pages and GBP setup work in the background permanently from the moment they go live.
Is there an option to get my business listed across more directories?
Yes. As an optional add on, we can activate directory listing sync that pushes your business name, address, phone, and hours to 70 plus online directories including Google, Bing, and Yelp, and keeps them consistent automatically. NAP consistency across directories is a proven local ranking signal. This add on is priced at $30 USD per month and is separate from the Elite monthly fee. Ask us about it during onboarding if you want to include it.
Which Cortex tier includes Beacon?
Beacon is included in the Elite tier only, at $697 per month. It is not available on Starter or Growth. The Founding Five offer means the first five Elite customers pay just a small setup contribution instead of the standard fee, with their monthly rate locked permanently.

Right, here's the thing.

Every suburb you service without a page on your website is a suburb where your business does not exist on Google.
